Extended downtime on January 10 for Dust 514 migration to Tranquility

On Thursday, January 10, the regularly scheduled downtime will be extended to 5 hours and 15 minutes starting at 07:00 to 12:15 UTC.

CCP will be taking the historic steps to merge two completely different games onto one server as we fully migrate Dust 514 to Tranquility in preparation for the upcoming Open Beta. While this unprecedented merger is an extremely exciting time for everyone here, it is also one that will require a great amount of care in order to ensure it goes smoothly.

Part of this downtime will be used for the actual migration itself; however, in order to ensure server stability and proper communication between Tranquility and the PlayStation Network, we will utilize several hours to test the connection and make sure the transition is smooth on both platforms.

We understand the length of this downtime is unusual but we feel it is necessary in order to minimize disruption to EVE Online and Dust 514. We apologize to everyone whose play time will be restricted or inconvenienced by this downtime and we will strive to have things completed as quickly and smoothly as possible. It is recommended that everyone place a long skill in their training queue in order to prevent any disruption of your regular skill training. Please note that while we anticipate that this will be the full amount of time required for migration and testing, we may need to extend by another hour or two should it be necessary.

Skill Point Reimbursment for Jump Clone Issue

Hello everyone. Recently we discovered a bug where individuals who jump cloned and quickly changed session (through docking and undocking) would find their attributes no longer applying to skill training, causing a sharp increase in training times. A hotfix was deployed for this issue on December 11th, but numerous individuals were still effected by the bug.

As a result, we have decided to reimburse all affected players by granting them 75.600 SP into their unallocated skill queue after the regular downtime on December 13th. This amount was calculated by determining the maximum amount of skill points that could possibly have been lost out on by the bug. Affected players will be determined by a database query, so there is no need for individuals to take any steps to receive their reimbursement.

EVE Online: Retribution 1.0.1 to be released during downtime on December 5, 2012

The first patch for EVE Online: Retribution will be released during the regularly scheduled 11:00 to 11:30 UTC downtime on December 5, 2012. This patch fixes several issues being experienced as a result of the EVE Online: Retribution expansion.

Please report any issues with Retribution in this thread; a thread for general feedback is available here.

Nvidia Graphics Card Issues and Workaround

Currently some users using the new Retribution patch on portable hardware may be experiencing issues with world objects including ship and stations not appearing in game (although you will see the trails/boosters). In short some geometry is not rendering correctly due to some changes in the engine.

Most cases have been reproduced on the Nvidia M series cards, although it could also be visible on Ati and integrated GPU solutions. A short term workaround is to either enable any level of ‘Anti-Aliasing’ or select a lower value of ‘Shader Quality’. Both of these settings can be found under the ‘Display & Graphics > Graphic Content Settings’ area of the options menu.

A fix is currently incoming and we thank you for your patience.

Please report any issues with Retribution here.

General Retribution feedback can be discussed here.
