In Development: New Destroyers and Ship Balancing

On December 4, EVE Online: Retribution will bring four new destroyers to New Eden, one for each race, and a ton of ship balancing changes bound to cause delicious, ship exploding mayhem to keep us all warm through the winter months.

We brought out our trusty video camera and cornered a couple of developers to tell us more about this...and then some other things happened as well.

Enjoy!

Temporary problems with a few payment methods

We are experiencing temporary issues with a few of the payment methods we offer when customers are either upgrading existing trial accounts, or paying for new accounts. This is not affecting any recurring subscriptions or accounts that have been paid for previously. The symptoms are that the affected accounts get disabled the moment they are paid for. The payment methods in question are as follows:

PayPal
Webmoney
Paysafecard
iDeal
Nexon

Our web engineers are working on solving this with the utmost urgency and we will keep you posted on any developments. If you have experienced this problem, Please file a petition in the 'Billing & Account' category, and our billing team will take care of you.

Thank you for your patience.

New video: Back to school

Skyward Sphere – Live launch into space on May 9th, 12:00 UTC

Wednesday May 9th at 12:00 UTC we will take our first step together into space!

This is our way of saying thank you to you our players and we hope that this endeavor brings a smile to your face.

The plan

We are releasing a high altitude balloon just north of CCP HQ and the hope is that the balloon will drift over the harbour and the CCP HQ. The balloon will carry a replica of an EVE pod, containing the names of our players, into the stratosphere as promised at the end of last year.

The students of the University of Reykjavík who are handling the launch have made the prediction that it will land in the middle of Kleifarvatn lake. Iceland Telecom who is partnering with us in this adventure is providing us with live video feed and GPS tracking via their 3G Samsung Note. The live feed will start shortly before 12:00 UTC and should last the whole flight all the way up to 100.000 feet.

Additionally we have 3 high definiton cameras on board and we will make the recovered recordings available in a few days time.

You will be able to track its flight progress over Iceland here.

The Icelandic Coast Guard is having their regular search and rescue exercise around 14:30 UTC and they made it their objective to retrieve our craft as part of the exercise.

Also you can check out the 'In Development' video about the project.

See you in space!

Nvidia Graphics Cards for PLEX

The offer announced at Fanfest 2012 in the CCP Presents keynote is now live. One hundred Nvidia GTX 560 graphics cards are available for PLEX on a "first come first serve" basis from the EVE Online Account Management page.

This means that if you are really good at EVE and have a lot of ISK stocked up, you can turn that ISK into PLEX and then into a brand new graphics card.

Please check out this dev blog for further details.

Surveyvor: The overview episode!

In Crucible 1.2, Team Gridlock introduced changes to the overview. The changes were mainly focused on improving client performance but also included changes to the behavior of the overview. One behavioral change worth mentioning was overview sorting pausing when the overview is moused over, with the intention of making it easier to grab a target while in a combat situation (when you would normally have loads of objects in the overview jumping up and down).

To gauge how well these improvements have hit home with you, we would appreciate it if you jumped to this survey and shared your thoughts with us.

Thanks a bunchies!
